searchable national study. It covers 25,902 TRI facilities,
49,190 public water systems, and 1,839
Superfund sites. Each ranking is an original database aggregation with the limits of its
measure stated beside it.
Both files contain the seven findings on this page, their source programs, limitations, and
the 2026-08-01 data vintage. They are a citable summary, not a bulk export of the entity corpus.

Counts from different programs should not be combined into a single score. Reporting
thresholds, program coverage, enforcement processes, and update timing differ by dataset.
A high count can reflect more regulated entities or more monitoring, not necessarily worse
conditions. For local decisions, inspect the underlying facility or water-system record and
confirm it with the issuing agency.
